Matahari Tulamben Guesthouse

The villa itself was quite hot, but thankfully the bedroom had air conditioning. We stayed for two weeks, enjoyed relaxed and safe dives with local instructors, and ate at the restaurant. The dive guides were professional and the staff friendly. I especially liked the pasta carbonara, sweet and sour chicken, and the “puri temple” smoothie. Thanks for the vacation, team 🩵

I'm booked to stay at Matahari and can't wait. I haven't actually been there yet, so this is based on the stories I've heard, the photos I've seen, and the many traveler videos on YouTube I've found. They show the natural beauty alongside the built comforts. I've also read lots of five-star reviews praising the wonderful staff and how clean the place is. I'll update this after my stay. Counting down the days.

We only ate here. The restaurant faces the sea, so you get an ocean view, and it might be nice around sunset. The staff were kind, but I felt uncomfortable because they kept hovering and looking at us. We had lunch on the second floor, and two staff members came up even after we clearly said we didn't need anything else. They just lingered, staring and chatting with each other. I found that unprofessional for a resort.

Matahari Tulamben is a hidden gem for divers, with lots of interesting sites to explore, though the ride from Denpasar is long. The rooms were fairly clean, and the staff and instructors were friendly. I'd definitely come back.
