Pondok Mimpi Tulamben

The banana pancakes, sunny-side-up eggs, bacon, and banana juice were my favourite part of breakfast. You can choose a few items from the menu. Staff were really friendly and helpful, and could take us by motorbike to a nearby restaurant or mini mart whenever we wanted, then wait and bring us back. This is a small, cosy six-room place belonging to Udive. If you stay, avoid the room by reception because it’s noisy. The pool seemed quite dirty, perhaps because it had too little chlorine, though it is used for confined sessions if you’re learning open water. The room is dated: the handles are rusty and a bit broken, and the shower head doesn’t work properly, though the rain shower does and the water is hot. Towels and sheets were a little dirty. WiFi is only available at reception, not in the rooms. On my third day, a rat chewed through the WiFi wire, so there was no WiFi to use.

Tulamben is basically a diving destination, with dive shops and plenty of nearby restaurants. There’s a small minimart just around the corner, too. We stayed for a week. I was sick and couldn’t dive, but had a lovely rest drinking coffee by the pool. It’s a very small, cosy place with only a few rooms, and we thought it was excellent for the price. The staff are super nice. If you’re used to resorts, it may not feel like anything special, and our rate was very good, so that could make a difference. Still, I’d warmly recommend it. The stay here will beat any dive resort dormitory by miles :)

I stayed with my wife and brother and wasn’t sure what to expect, but we had a great time. The staff were very friendly, and both the rooms and pool were comfortable for the price. They did our laundry well and with a smile, for Rp 10,000 per kilo. The location is good, within walking distance of the dive shops, restaurants, and USS liberty. It’s a great budget option.

The rooms are big, clean, and tidy, with everything you need. The bathroom is a little dark, but we just used the outdoor shower by the pool. The pool area is lovely and relaxed, and there’s a perfect view of Agung Agung. Staff were wonderfully friendly, too. Definitely would stay again!
