Bali Spring Cottages

The stay was fine at first, but the family’s response afterward left me pretty upset. I booked four nights through Airbnb. The family were friendly initially, and when I was new to town, host Agung was happy to suggest places to visit. The problem was that reception was never staffed. I often had to search for someone, knock on a room to return keys or discuss cleaning, and the room still hadn’t been cleaned after two days. Normal interactions like that, or asking questions when family members were outside, seemed reasonable to me. I also sometimes needed to find someone in person because they weren’t available on WhatsApp. After I left, I saw a review from the family’s Airbnb account, which is handled by a ‘manager’, saying I had ‘disturbed’ the family many times. I hadn’t set out to disturb anyone, and that reply spoiled what I’d thought was an okay experience. The account manager came across as a little rude, and didn’t seem to be a family member, since I found the family themselves accommodating. The place is in a prime spot by the Ubud market, and breakfast was good enough. The Rosa room has no private balcony, while the Grotta room does. Hope your stay goes better than mine.

What made the biggest difference for me was Agung and the rest of the staff. They gave me great tips around Ubud and answered all my questions. I rented a scooter there too, and Mr. Agung helped book my Batur hiking trip. The guesthouse is in a calm, beautiful area, and I liked the view from my window. I can really recommend Bali Spring Cottages.

The family were friendly, and the view over Bali makes a stay here worthwhile. Just know that the rooms are right next to each other, so you’ll hear some noise between them.

Owner Agung and the staff are genuinely friendly. You can tell they put effort into making the accommodation feel cozy, from the rooms to the garden.
