Batu Empug Ubud Cottages

The peaceful, traditional Balinese atmosphere suited Ubud's slower pace, while the hotel was still close to everything we needed. Cafes, restaurants, shops, and supermarkets were all easy to reach on foot, with Indonesian and international food options nearby. Coffee lovers will be happy too, with some excellent coffee shops close by for a relaxed break. We spent ten wonderful nights at Batu Empug Cottages, a quaint boutique hotel in Ubud, Bali. What stood out was the sincere, personal Balinese hospitality. The staff were warm, welcoming, and attentive from the moment we arrived. Their farewell was especially memorable: a beautifully presented fruit basket with a handwritten goodbye message on a plant leaf, such a thoughtful and uniquely Balinese touch. Breakfast was included and very enjoyable. We could choose American, Indonesian, or Continental options each morning, and alternated between them for a nice mix of familiar and local flavors. The breakfasts were well prepared and a pleasant start to the day. A few things could be improved. The bathroom towels seemed past their prime and should be replaced. The bathroom was quite dark, so more lighting near the mirror would help. Some hooks for hanging towels would be useful too. An extra bedside table would make the room more comfortable, as there's only one. We'd absolutely stay again and highly recommend Batu Empug Cottages to travelers looking for a comfortable place in Ubud with genuine hospitality, a great location, and a welcoming feel.

We were very happy with our two-night stay at the beautiful Batu Empug Cottages. It's a small, secure, laid-back hotel with clean, well-maintained grounds, pool, and room. The location is great, walkable to Ubud's busy main area, yet it's super quiet down a lit-up alleyway. Highly recommend.

The rooms are really spacious, and I loved staying in them. Some of the amenities could be improved, but the whole experience was still 10/10 for me. The hotel is close to the center, with lots nearby and a lovely street, yet it gets quiet and relaxing at night compared with the noisy main roads. The people here are the real highlight: so warm and charming, always smiling and ready to help. Congrats to the team. I’ll remember them!

The staff made the stay memorable, even surprising us with a birthday cake and a song. We also enjoyed the tasty breakfast and other meals at the café. The cottages sit among tropical gardens around a refreshing pool, on a quiet lane just a short walk from Ubud’s shops, cafes, and cultural spots. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with good Wi-Fi and reliable air-conditioning. Waking up to the peaceful balcony view was lovely. The bathroom lighting was a little dim, and there were a few mosquitoes in the garden, but neither was a big issue. I’d happily stay again.
