Bucu Beji Ubud

The grounds are beautiful and the views are good for photos, but I wouldn’t choose this place for hospitality or a welcoming stay. The service made it feel like we were just getting by rather than enjoying a visit. I’d avoid it if possible. We came in late December’25, when it wasn’t busy, yet there were few staff and they were unfriendly. Our room wasn’t clean, the mosquito net was torn, and there were lizards inside. There were no water bottles or phone to reach reception, so every time we needed to speak to someone we had to climb 20-30 large steps and got unhelpful responses. Breakfast was included, but they offered a limited à la carte menu, saying occupancy was low even though the dining area was nearly full.

We booked a family suite for three nights, but left early and found somewhere else. The room we were shown needed repairs, and the stay fell far short of what we expected. The photos make the place look like paradise, but our rooms weren’t very clean and the linens were worn thin. One room in the suite smelled moldy; in the other, black plastic covered the bathroom’s natural light source. The pool looked nice, but nobody was swimming, and the hotel seemed almost empty while other places nearby were booked. This didn’t feel like a four-star stay. For me, the most unsettling part was the feeling at night. The place felt extremely uncomfortable, and I felt tension across my back and neck all night. I woke several times, stayed up praying over my family and practicing Reiki in our room. Our driver said the next day that he felt them too. That was our experience, and I can’t recommend this for a peaceful stay. The photos may show older rooms or the nicest ones. While the physical problems were tolerable, we were very disappointed.

The view and pools were lovely, and our beds were clean. The rooms were okay in that they gave us a roof over our heads, but they’re old and badly in need of renovation. There were lots of stairs, slippery in the rain, so getting around wasn’t easy. We had a toilet that kept breaking and a shower that was unreliable and moldy. We had to keep asking for toilet paper instead of having it replenished. Staff were nice but didn’t show much initiative, and the resort seemed to get only the bare minimum upkeep. Breakfast was available, but the food wasn’t kept warm and some was left uncovered where bugs could get to it. I don’t think the 4.2-star rating reflects the place, so don’t be misled.

I spent nine days at Beji Resort Ubud and was very disappointed. The location and infinity-pool view were the reasons I booked, and the view really is beautiful, but the pool water was so dirty I couldn’t make myself swim. I managed only a short video during the whole stay. The gardens and pools were poorly kept as well. The rooms smelled unpleasant, possibly because of a drainage problem. Sheets were stained, and even though towels were changed each day, most still had marks. Housekeeping was poor: there were spider webs around the rooms, and I found reptiles or frogs inside on almost every day and had to remove them myself. Breakfast had very few choices, and the food didn’t look clean or fresh. The view and location were the only good parts. Everything else was a letdown. If I could have got a refund, I’d have left straight away. One of my worst hotel stays, and I wouldn’t recommend it.
