Dupa Ubud Villa

I stayed in the wooden villa, which was comfortable, and I really enjoyed the stay. The accommodation was absolutely beautiful. A lovely walk past rice paddies takes you to the pool overlooking the jungle, and the staff are very friendly.

The villa was roomy, and the staff were helpful, but I didn’t feel the stay justified the price. We booked a private pool villa, yet the water was dirty and algae covered much of the pool’s edges. That made it hard to get in from the loungers. They’d left just two old towels, with no bath or face towels. There were only two 200 ml bottles of water in the room, and they ran out fast. We had to go to the lobby for refills, and when we asked for extra bottles to cut down on those trips, we were charged. I’m not expecting unlimited mineral water, but for what we paid, larger bottles would have made sense. Long glass bottles could be an alternative. I’ve stayed in villas around the world and hadn’t run into this before.

Looking out at the rice field from the room was a lovely part of staying at Dupa Ubud. The property has a pool too, which was a nice way to cool off. The room had plenty of space, including a roomy bathroom and a useful desk for sorting out our things. The AC and hot water both worked well, and arriving and leaving were straightforward. It felt like good value for a quiet getaway in Ubud.

The villa was spacious, and the service staff were okay. Still, it cost more than other villas in the same area, and the basics were disappointing. The pool was very dirty, with algae all around, and the toilet hadn’t been cleaned. The towels were old too. There was no phone in the room, so to talk to someone we had to walk through the forest and insects to the lobby. Around 9 pm, we got there and found nobody.
