The staff were friendly, but the food was poor. It was fresh, just not tasty, and we waited around 50 minutes for two dishes despite being the only guests and there being no other orders. Cleanliness was a serious issue too. There was visible mold on the bathroom ceiling, and every time the bed linen was changed it had stains, which isn’t acceptable in a hotel. The main problem was how little soundproofing there was. Loud music started in the lobby at 6 a.m., followed from around 8 by construction noise, hammering, drilling, and sawing. I understand that renovations can be needed, but beginning that early showed little respect for guests trying to rest. In my view, hotel noise work shouldn’t start before 10 a.m., and it should stop on weekends, Saturday and Sunday. They didn’t do that here. I travel a lot and have stayed in many hotels, so I have comparisons. Despite the friendly people working here, there were too many problems, and guest comfort didn’t seem to be a priority. That’s especially disappointing in Bali, which is associated with relaxation and good service.

My first time in Bali was very bad. I got a dirty, poor room and the staff were unhelpful. Only the kitchen staff and one receptionist, I think her name was Nisha, always greeted me. On my last day I had to carry my own luggage up two flights of stairs. I’d already mentioned the night before that I’d check out early at 7pm, and the receptionist knew I had luggage because she had checked me in five days earlier. I still gave 30 minutes’ notice. I came for breakfast at 7:40am and asked for help with my suitcase, though I shouldn’t have had to ask. She said, “Aww, I don’t have anybody, let me call my friend.” I said okay. Twenty minutes later, I’d finished breakfast and my driver had arrived. She said her friend would come in five minutes, but I couldn’t wait, so I had to lift my own suitcase. I booked a suite and regret spending the money. I couldn’t use the pool at all. The toilet was very dirty and leaking, there were lots of mosquitoes in the rooms, and there was a spider and web inside the bed around the mosquito nets. I had to ask for cleaning. An electrician came to fix the TV and was a nice person, but the bathtub had no hot water, so I couldn’t use it either. There was black mold everywhere, and it didn’t look like the pictures. The receptionist seemed like she didn’t want to work or help, then said sorry when I told her this was the worst place I’d ever stayed. I didn’t enjoy my birthday here. I strongly advise people not to go there.

The pool, exterior, and massage were good. We didn’t try the restaurant because of the bad reviews. Our stay didn’t go well. We arrived two hours before official check-in and had to carry our heavy suitcases up a large staircase ourselves. Nobody offered help, and even if we’d refused, the gesture was missing. The room was ready, and the receptionist showed it to us, but repeatedly insisted we’d have to pay extra and reminded us the booking was “non-refundable, non-cancellable.” She first asked for 200,000 to let us in early, then lowered it to 100,000 when we refused. We decided to wait on principle and got the room at 3 PM. The receptionist also felt cold and unwelcoming. She asked what we planned to do in Bali, but stopped listening while I answered. I eventually gave up talking, which felt awkward and unpleasant. The property has potential, and the pool and exterior are beautiful, but the room was disappointing. The sheets stayed damp from the humidity, and we couldn’t sleep for three nights. My partner even developed allergies. There was a strong sewage smell in the bathroom that reception never resolved, and geckos came into the room and kept us awake with their noise. We left one night early because we were on holiday and just wanted to rest. When we told reception, all they said was, “Sorry, it’s non-refundable.” They’d emphasized that at check-in too, and offered no compensation or customer care. Our Ubud stay was ruined. At the same price I’d found many other options that would’ve been much better, and offering a higher standard of service shouldn’t have been difficult.

We left with a very bad taste in our mouths. I arrived feeling really ill, but the staff showed no empathy. They could have checked us in early, but demanded 100 per hour, a ridiculous fee that we refused on principle. We also had two separate bookings and asked three times if we could stay in the same room. We were told it wasn’t possible. After we packed everything and checked out, they checked us back into that very same room later the same day. It had clearly been possible all along, so the staff’s “friendly” manner felt fake and uncooperative. The restaurant served cold spring rolls. They said they’d take them off the bill, but didn’t, and then refused to correct it. The service, especially at the front desk, was poor and unprofessional.

An absolute gem. It’s quiet and serene, with top tier service from a great staff. The food was delicious, and the bathroom was VERY nice :) Anik was so accommodating and helpful. I’d recommend it 10/10 times. My only downside is I can’t move in 😅 Don’t listen to the reviews below :)
