The Tunjung Ubud Retreat

The location is handy, inside the art market and close to local restaurants and a convenience store. The staff are friendly and ready to help, so I'll come back! ✨ There were some ants in the room, but they didn't really affect the stay. The towels had a slightly odd smell, so they should improve the scent and replace them regularly.

We stayed at Tunjung Ubud Retreat, set inside the owner's traditional Balinese home compound. It's a beautiful place in a very strategic spot, down a small alley beside Ubud Palace. Souvenir stalls line the alley, so people often assume cars can't enter, but the property has official permission for cars and local vendors know that. Still, many online drivers are hesitant or refuse to drive in. The access lane is narrow, and there's no car parking at the property, only motorbike parking. Service was five-star level. We arrived in heavy rain, and the front office staff came to meet us, carried our luggage to reception, provided umbrellas, then helped us again on the way to our room. Everyone we encountered was consistently friendly and helpful. Breakfast is offered with a choice of menu items. Rooms come in different settings, including by the pool, with garden views, tucked into the compound, and on lower levels. Each has a balcony with a table and chairs. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable for two, with a fan, air conditioner, and refrigerator. The bathroom was generously sized, the shower design was unusual, and there was a handy spot for hanging and drying towels. A few things could be better: there's no phone in the room to call reception, so you'd need to walk over if something comes up. Wi-Fi was a bit slow, and the pool was small and slightly unclean.

The gardens were so pretty, and the pool was nice too. It's a very quiet place even though it's just off one of the main shopping malls. My room was lovely, clean, and spacious, but the air con seemed weak and made a bit of noise. The staff couldn't do enough for me, such beautiful people. If you're a dog lover, bring a bag of smackos. I met several adorable little dogs who really enjoyed the treats!

Spotlessly clean, with beautiful gardens and warm, friendly staff. It's tucked away on a quiet lane but still central to everything in Ubud. A perfect place to stay, and I'd highly recommend it.
