Putri Ayu Cottages

I stayed here twice in two weeks, and the friendly staff were very accommodating, including arranging taxis. It’s on a popular street lined with places to eat, but my room was quiet at night, set back from the not-so-busy street. The room was very spacious, with plenty of drawers and hanging space. There was also a large balcony for sitting and drying clothes, plus a decent-sized pool for short laps. The bathroom was adequate, though the bath had no shower curtain and the water pressure was a bit low.

The service and location were wonderful, and the property was well cared for, with a nice pool and attached restaurant. The room was just alright. It seemed as clean as it could be, so I didn’t mind too much, but everything smelled of mildew and the bathroom needs some maintenance. A good place if you’re on a budget.

I was in room 103, and the key snapped in half when I tried to lock the door that evening. They charged me 100000 idr, which felt too expensive. I liked the spacious room and had been thinking of extending my stay, but I’m glad I didn’t. I’m sure the key would have broken again when I inserted and turned it, and they’d have charged me again.

The staff were lovely, kind, and so helpful. I liked the bed, balcony, and poolside area, but that was about it. The buildings and bathroom looked much older than they did in the photos. After a few days I noticed mould on the walls, ceilings, and roofs throughout the room blocks. I was moved to another room, but the toilet seat was covered in black mould there too. There was no bathroom fan or ventilation, no soap, and the shower head was small and very weak. One of my belongings even started growing mould. The health impact feels dangerous and needs to be taken more seriously. This place has potential to be much nicer, but with the mould, it didn’t feel like a three-star stay. A little renovation would help, and the room quality needs to match the great customer service the staff provide.
