The rooms are great, with raw concrete, good appointments, large bathrooms and strong soundproofing. The hotel layout and facilities are wonderful. Coffee at the lobby cafe was top notch, and breakfast was very solid. The Soto Ayam was the best we tasted in Ubud. It's also in a great location, and the Argentinean restaurant across the road is a must. We had an aircon leak in the ceiling. That can happen, but we'd explained it three times to three different staff members and nobody fixed it. Sandri, who checked us in, took ownership with the Hotel Manager and got it resolved immediately. Her communication, understanding and ability to calm a frustrating situation showed real Balianese hospitality. Without her fantastic service, this would have been a 3-star review. We were moved to two other rooms, which was annoying, and the hotel seems to have some teething issues as a new property. Still, it was a pretty good experience overall and I'd stay here again.

One of the best hotels I've stayed in. Our room was amazing, and I loved the pool and jacuzzi. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, like the rest of the Balinese people. Thank you for everything! 🥹

The Kemilau Ubud is within walking distance of plenty of shops and restaurants. We also found Bangkiang Jaran Waterfall and Hidden Canyon, a beautiful, underrated spot about a 30-minute drive away. On New Year's Eve, we watched locals set off handheld fireworks along the streets, which was a memorable experience. I really hope to return, and I've been telling friends and family about the hotel. Ubud is my favourite place to stay in Bali. I love the greenery, quieter feel, cooler weather and relaxing atmosphere. Though The Kemilau Ubud is by a road, nights were peaceful, with no traffic or noise disturbance. We felt safe walking around, and the security guards on standby added reassurance. The lobby cafe is worth trying: great coffee, fresh juices and a friendly, warm team. Our room was tastefully designed, with an inviting, fresh and sophisticated scent. The lighting and ambience felt warm and comfortable, with a hint of sensuality. The bed, covers and pillows were so cozy, it felt like being cuddled to sleep. The bathroom had all the basics, right down to combs and lovely-smelling hair conditioner. The toilet flush was weak, so we had to try a few times, but it didn't take much away from our comfort. We only had hotel breakfast once, and it was served hot and nice. On our December 30, 2025 check-in, the staff were exceptionally warm. They helped with our bags and check-in, walked us to the room and explained everything clearly. The team was genuinely attentive, remembered our names and greeted us by name. On days we skipped breakfast, they even contacted us to check in. Thank you for making our stay so pleasant.

The lobby cafe makes great coffee, and the restaurant is excellent, with good Indonesian and western choices. The brisket really impressed me. Staff were welcoming and attentive, with that familiar Balinese hospitality. The architecture and design are beautiful. It's centrally located near great cafes, restaurants and plenty of shops, with the monkey forest just a short walk away. Definitely don't miss it.

I booked a suite with direct pool access, but my room faced a construction site, so the pool couldn't really be used during the day. When I tried, workers stared down at me. The hotel is fairly new and the bed was comfortable, but the room wasn't very soundproof. Construction noise and live music from the neighboring hotel went on past midnight, and as someone very sensitive to noise, I couldn't sleep. The staff at Kemilau were very helpful and friendly, and they accommodated me when I decided to move hotels. If you want to relax and lounge around, this isn't the place. For the price, there are better nearby options. I moved to Plataran Ubud, where the rates were even cheaper than Kemilau.
