Villa Capung Mas

It’s a spacious compound set a little way off the main road, with a long path to reach it. Cars can’t come up the path, so it’s about a 1 km walk. Each villa is separate and surrounded by a lovely garden, though there was stagnant water that seemed like a mosquito breeding spot. It looks as if it should flow like the pond by reception. The garden is well kept, and the pool on the other side of the complex overlooks green forest, which was nice. The area around the pool wasn’t so pleasant: there was a hut with building materials and old mattresses, remains of many offerings behind the pool, and the poolside toilets were being used for storage. My bed had a mosquito net, but it didn’t close fully, and neither did the sliding doors. They provided spray repellent and a plug-in. The sheets were clean but had holes, and the pillows were high. The room had a good minibar, snacks, a gallon water dispenser, and international TV. The bathroom was bigger than the bedroom, with a roofed open-air layout, so there were lots of bugs, though it was an interesting space. Water pressure was great. The receptionist was friendly but didn’t speak much English. I had coffee there at tea time and it was awful. I didn’t order food because the kitchen looked a little dodgy, and the cook was sitting slumped and bored by the door, so they didn’t seem busy. There’s a nice little restaurant area, but I unfortunately sat on a bar stool that had a colony of ants in it, and it was painful. It was very empty when I visited, which made it peaceful. A mixed bag.
