Villa Sonia Ubud

The breakfast team went out of their way for me, even making pancakes every day for this fussy GF eater. Everyone on staff was a delight. Villa Sonia is a lovely oasis in the heart of Nyuh Kuuning, and a perfect place to rest after a detox or panchakarma before heading back into the urban jungle. Thank you Villa Sonia 🙏🏾

I booked three nights, but the rooms looked much more worn than the photos suggested, and the property is right beside a noisy stretch of road. Reception said they'd refund my stay and told me to arrange it through agoda. A month later, agoda still couldn't get confirmation from the hotel to process the refund. It felt shady, and the staff were unprofessional and stopped replying until I gave up and wrote this for other travelers.

This was our third stay at Villa Sonia Ubud. We'd trusted the hotel before, recommended it to friends, and even brought some along this year. This visit was extremely disappointing. We discovered the next day around noon that two €200 notes were missing from a zipped pocket in a backpack in our room. The previous morning, the money had all been there. We had left around 8:30 AM, and when we returned at lunchtime the room had been cleaned. We went out again later, and when we came back that evening, mosquito repellent had been placed in the room. So hotel staff had entered twice that day. Only my husband and I had the room key, and we always locked the door when we went out. We told management immediately. They said they had carried out an internal check, but gave us no explanation and held nobody responsible. The security camera covering that area wasn't working, which made the situation even more concerning. We had no choice but to report it to local police. The lack of a serious effort to resolve the situation was as disappointing as the incident itself. We're sharing what happened so future guests can take extra care with their valuables.

It's such a beautiful property, with a lovely pool and a great location. The staff were nice, and we loved our stay. We were so comfortable there that we didn't even feel like going out.
