OYO Flagship 90756 Melasti Hills Room & Cafe

We paid 1,750,000 rupiah through Booking, but when we arrived they said there was no room for us. After one or two hours of talking with them, they said they’d asked other guests and we could have a room after all. We only stayed because everything in Uluwatu was fully booked. They also said we had to pay for the room again in cash at the hotel, even after I showed them the charge in my bank account. BIG SCAMMMMM!

We booked two rooms online, but when we arrived the lady said there were none left. While we waited for a solution, the same thing happened to two other people. We were told it was a scam: they’d report to Booking or OYO that we never showed up, so we’d owe 70% cancellation fees. We tried cancelling on the owner’s phone, but it said the allowed number of cancellations had been reached. There are only four or five rooms, yet we saw 12 people were supposed to check in that day. Hopefully they shut it down, this looks like an obvious scam.

The hotel is clean and nice, which makes the service even more disappointing. We waited half an hour for someone to show up at reception, weren’t given towels, and weren’t allowed to leave our rucksacks. We’d already paid for the room online, then were told we had to pay more than 50% extra. They said it was “company policy,” though that wasn’t mentioned online or anywhere else. Tourist trap.

Bu Aarti, the proprietor, looked after me so well. This nice hotel and homestay is on Bali Cliff, with the rooms cleaned every day. There are plenty of cheap food stalls and restaurants just outside. A fabulous place.
