The Baladewa

Egi and the others gave us amazing service 👍. Egi was kind and helpful the whole time, and even bought us martabak for dessert. It was really good. There are dogs and cats around that you can pet, though the guard dogs may bark at first. The location was convenient, a minute from Alphamart and some restaurants. Our room was large and bright, with a big window for natural light, a private bathroom, and access to a kitchen and utensils if you want to save money by cooking. It was a little old and worn, but we chose it on arrival because of the size and light, so we couldn't complain. The pillows smelled bad. That seems common at many hotels in Bali and might be due to the water used for washing rather than dirt. We enjoyed our stay at the Baladewa and extended for a few more days after a week. I'd recommend it for an affordable stay with a community feel.

The hotel manager was friendly and nice, and for the price I can't complain. I booked for a couple of nights because I just needed a convenient, cheap bed. It's rough around the edges, as you'd expect for the cost. Construction on a house right outside my window woke me early, though that wasn't the hotel's fault. There were also wild dogs nearby at night, and sometimes they seemed a bit aggressive.

I'd avoid staying here. The room was covered in mold from floor to ceiling. I lasted maybe four hours before leaving because I could feel how bad it was for my health. Since then I've developed a really bad cough and flu-like symptoms. The place is very cheap, but it wasn't worth it even for one night.

The rooms are roomy and the location has potential, but the stay was rough. The sheets were dirty, the room smelled, the access road was bad, and there was construction late at night. No Wi-Fi, a torn towel, and an air conditioner that kept acting up. The dogs barked all night and actually bite. A blanket and desk would help, and the leaking toilet spray needs fixing. At 200k a night, I guess you get what you pay for.
