The Kawan Jimbaran - Private Villa

The villa itself was decent, though generally dirty and run down, and the pool always had lots of dead bugs on the surface. The worst part was how uncomfortable we felt there. A religious pamphlet asking us to seek God was left at only our villa’s door, with a handwritten note. We suspected it might be because we’re gay. It was our second day, and it made us feel unwelcome. When we asked, staff said, “I don’t know,” which didn’t seem believable in a private complex. They also came into our villa without us knowing. One morning they opened the front door and walked around the front room 45 minutes before the time they’d said they would bring breakfast, instead of knocking. The next day, we woke to find the food already in our room, apparently left more than 30 minutes early, again with no knock or announcement. We found that really invasive, especially after the pamphlet. We didn’t feel comfortable raising this with staff because of the pamphlet and the way you responded to it. I also don’t know what “friend” supposedly delivered it. There were only two of us, so that explanation makes no sense. If it was our “friend,” why wasn’t I told that when I first asked who had left it? That sounds like a cop-out, and this was the main reason we felt uneasy for the whole stay. Please don’t blame us. I understand you deliver food and weren’t peeking or stalking, but it should be understandable that we were uncomfortable with someone entering our room without our knowledge, especially after finding that pamphlet.
