The Village Inn was a great base for seeing west Sumba, since you can rent a scooter there and reach most of the nice spots. Sumba itself turned out even better than I'd expected, with beautiful nature, waterfalls, and beaches on a remote island. It was an experience I'll never forget. Ben was incredibly helpful, and the staff were all super friendly. There isn't much Sumba information online, so he spent a lot of time telling us where to go and which roads to avoid because some can be pretty rough. We would have been lost without his advice, and really appreciate how much it helped us make the most of our stay. The rooms are fine. If you're arriving late in the evening, bring snacks, because the nearest shop is quite a distance away. The Village Inn is a cozy place in west Sumba with new owners who are working to make it better. Whether you like an adventure or just want to relax on the beach, Sumba and the Inn are a must visit. 10/10 stars for an awesome stay.

My partner and I spent two weeks here and loved it. The staff are so friendly and make you feel at home. The Village Inn is a short walk from the beach, serves fresh food every day, and can arrange motorbike rentals and airport transfers. We'll definitely be back!

I really enjoyed staying here for 5 or 6 nights. The location is wonderful, the staff were helpful and friendly, and there are plenty of motorbikes to choose from. The village people are welcoming, and it was interesting watching the fishermen at work, especially in the morning. Most of the 3 km beach is deserted, with about 2 km of it making a lovely morning walk. The countryside nearby is also interesting to explore on foot or by motorbike. Breakfast was OK, but I struggled with the food overall. Lunch and dinner were really expensive compared with elsewhere in Indonesia. One time, a very small piece of chicken with some beans, more of a snack, cost 5500 rupiah. Normally, that much gets me more food than I can eat. Prices at the nearby resort under the same ownership were mind-boggling. There wasn't anywhere else to eat nearby, and a bottle of water at the accommodation cost 15,000 rupiah, while the little shop 40 metres away charged 8,000 rupiah. If you're watching your budget and are sensitive to prices, you might want to stay away. If that's not an issue, it's a great place to stay.

Ben, the really helpful and cool manager, gave me great tips that made my time in and around Rua unforgettable. This place is an ideal base for exploring West Sumba. I was also lucky to meet Gordon, a true man of the world, who was wandering around and helping keep the place at its best. I'll definitely recommend The Village Inn Rua Beach and their Resort to my friends and family.

It was lucky timing that I got to meet the owner, Antonio, while I was there. He clearly cares about his guests and, even more, about the local community, where he's been a respected member for many years. The staff were welcoming and super helpful too. The Village Inn was a great find in West Sumba. It's surrounded by natural beauty and just steps from an idyllic beach. I'll surely be back!
