Berlian Hotel Malioboro

Light sleepers should avoid the lower floors because the hotel faces the train station, whose traffic speaker blares announcements 24/7. Ask for a room on the 7fl or 8fl facing east instead. The staff were helpful in finding a replacement room, though it’s best to mention your preference at the start in case occupancy is high. The room, service, and location are excellent.

The rooms are a bit worn, but clean, and the bed is comfortable. There was no soap in the bathroom, unless you count the shampoo, which seemed odd. The towels were gray and very rough, so I had to use my own. Room service food was okay, but the breakfast buffet wasn’t good. The staff are nice, though they barely speak English, which made communication a bit hard. Being right across from the train station is convenient if you arrive late in Yogyakarta and don’t want to find transport, but it also makes the rooms noisy.

Very affordable for such a great location. The hotel is across the street from Yogya Train Station and about a 10-minute walk to Malioboro, making it a great place for a quick stop in Yogya.

The room smelled bad, maybe because the previous guest smoked. It was dirty, with lots of cracked tiles, and the shower water pressure was very low. Service was fast and staff were always attentive. Parking was good too, with valet service.
