The water was clean and flowed quickly, but the shower and water heater they said were there didn’t actually work. There were lots of creatures in the bathroom, including geckos, butterflies, moths, and mosquitoes. The location isn’t very strategic either, since you have to walk a bit to find a restaurant or minimarket.

The building looks old, but it felt safe and didn’t have any overly strange “air” to it. Parking is free, with room for what I think is 4-6 cars and 10-20 motorcycles in a dedicated area. We booked through Traveloka because it let us request a non-smoking room. During peak season, on the last day of the school holidays in July 2025, the price was around 120,000 Rupiah on Traveloka and RedDoorz. For that rate and the facilities, it was great: a spacious, clean room with no dust or cigarette smoke, cool AC, a queen-size bed, two towels, a table and chairs, a dedicated TV with channels, several power outlets, and a closet. The bathroom was spacious too, with liquid soap, running water, and hot water. I found this place while looking for somewhere last minute in Yogyakarta, and it seemed the best among several apps. If I’m back in Jogja and just need a place to rest without anything fancy, I’d stay here again.

I arrived at Giwangan Jogja by night bus at 3 in the morning, and this place is quite close to the Giwangan terminal. For a backpacker budget, it’s really worth staying overnight. There’s AC, an en-suite bathroom, and a clean bed.

The pavilion room was huge and very private, with two doors, three beds, two bathrooms, a dining room, and a guest room. I worried there’d be an extra charge, but there wasn’t. I got a promo rate of 180 thousand, and the kids loved the comfortable room. From the front, the hotel looked old, a bit dirty, and scary, and there was a construction worker there who wanted to add more rooms. Inside, though, the room was clean and fragrant, and both the AC and hot water were on. It’s cheap and close to Malioboro, so I want to book this hotel and room again when I next go to Jogja. Mr. Bimo and all the guards were friendly, and the service was good. Is there a number I can call to make a reservation?
