POP! Hotel Timoho Yogyakarta

The room was tiny but tidy, with the basic amenities covered. Check-in was quick thanks to the friendly, efficient staff. Exactly what I expect from a budget hotel: no frills, no fuss, no complaints. Simple and gets the job done.

This was my first time booking a room only here, without breakfast. They didn't provide a toothbrush, and the receptionist wasn't friendly. The other POP Hotels I've stayed at provide a toothbrush and even slippers, including when you book just a room.

The staff were friendly during my first stay, but there were several problems with the meals and room. I found a fly on the food that was served, which made me concerned about hygiene. My TV had no sound, the AC leaked and left puddles on the floor, and the pillow cover looked yellowish and dirty instead of white. I know the hotel is economically priced, but cleanliness and hygiene should still meet a basic standard. I hope management addresses these issues to improve the guest experience. We stayed three nights in Room #318 at Pop Hotel Timoho during our Yogyakarta holiday, from 5th-8th December 2024. The female receptionist was really nice, though the male staff seemed less welcoming. The location is strategic, but it's quite far from Malioboro and Tugu Jogja. The area is quiet, with few food options and no nearby Indomaret or Alfamart. Our room boy did a great job cleaning daily, but the toilet was a problem: no bidet shower, just a spray built into the toilet itself, which felt disgusting and dirty. The rooms aren't soundproof either. On our last night, our neighbor in #316 had an alarm going off at 1:30 AM. The vibration, probably from a phone on a table above the bed, was loud enough to hear in our room and went on for 15 minutes. It started again at 2:00 AM for another 10 minutes, then kept happening until 2:30 AM. We called the staff. Even after they asked the guest twice to stop, it continued until 3:30 AM. My husband and I were really frustrated, especially since we had to leave early for the long trip back to Jakarta. Thankfully, security came and handled it in the end.
