Staying here feels like slipping into an older, quieter, simpler time. It sits among charming little lanes in the heart of Malioboro, about a five-minute walk from the train station. It’s calm despite being so central, and the garden gives guests a lovely place to relax and chat after sightseeing. The rooms are clean and comfortable, though a little worn, so don’t expect a modern hotel feel. The air conditioning is cold, the hot water is hot with strong pressure, and families can book rooms with connecting doors. Staff speak English very well and are friendly and helpful. We paid 350,000 IDR per room per night for a ground-floor room, walking in and paying cash. Booking directly in cash may get you a better rate than using online systems.

It’s a traditional boutique hotel just across from the train station, tucked away from the main street in a safe alley. The bed was comfortable, the room clean, and the AC cold. Restaurants and laundry are nearby, and it’s a four-minute walk to Marlioboro. Handy for a night when you arrive or leave by train.

Tea and coffee are set out outside the rooms and available around the clock for you to make yourself. Breakfast isn’t buffet style, so you need to order the night before or in the morning, but it tasted good. There are lots of restaurant options nearby, and the location is hard to beat: three minutes on foot from the train station and ten minutes from Malioboro street.

For backpackers, the price, room, and location make this a good deal. The room was clean and spacious, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast choices were limited, but the food was pretty good. The hotel is tucked down an alley, with easy access to Malioboro Street, one of the city’s main tourist areas. There’s no TV or phone in the room, so if you need something, you have to go to the front office yourself.
