Carani Hotel Yogyakarta

The hotel looked as advertised, but the Wi-Fi information was wrong. My parents stayed for 4 days 3 nights and had no connection the whole time. That made it difficult to keep in touch with family back home and left them paying higher mobile internet tariffs. The problem wasn't fixed during their stay, which was troublesome for travellers who need internet while on holiday.

We stayed one night before heading back home the next morning. The location was strategic, with easy access to places around the city. At first the stay wasn't great because the bed and pillows were dirty. Reception was helpful and offered to move us, but we'd already unpacked some things, so we stayed in the same room.

For an average level, this is one of the best hotels I can suggest. It's simple and clean, in a good location, and the staff are kind and helpful. The price is acceptable too.

I've never stayed at a worse 3-star hotel. On arrival the room smelled, probably from the toilet pipe, and hadn't been properly cleaned. There was rubbish from the previous guest and a cigarette filter on the bathroom floor. Breakfast was limited and bland, though thanks for the Indomie, and the Wi-Fi was extremely slow. Room cleaning here requires you to put up a sign. They don't just knock and ask, unlike hotels where we've found the room cleaned after being out for a few hours. That setup is lame.
