The staff made us feel very welcome, and there are tasty places to eat nearby. Malioboro is about a 10-15 minute walk away. We enjoyed staying at the Cavinton, though the hallways had a bit of a cigarette smell.

The room was roomy and clean, and the staff were friendly. Malioboro and Kraton are close enough to walk to if you’re up for it, and there’s a mini market nearby. We really enjoyed our time at the Cavinton.

Getting in and out was easy, and the location made it convenient to enjoy Jokjakarta.

Yamas Sky Cafe on the eighth floor ended up being a favorite, with city views, a Greek city theme, and excellent food and service. I had many dinners there. The hotel is right beside a food court, at a busy intersection, though it sits quietly on the corner. Inside, the service staff are warm and helpful, always ready to answer questions with a smile. The food is good, with both local and Western choices. There’s all-day dining and a 24-hour lobby, handy for late snacks or check-ins. You can also get spa service, room service, laundry, and use the swimming pool. It’s a beautiful hotel, and a good place for either a work trip or a vacation.
