Forriz Hotel

The breakfast is better skipped in favor of local restaurants. There are much tastier options along Jalan HOS Cokroaminoto. The gym only has two machines and one portable sauna. They don't offer extra key cards, even for connecting rooms, and it feels unsafe that you can use the elevators without an access card. I've stayed in four-star hotels in many places, and this one doesn't belong in that category. It's meant to be four stars but feels more like three. In Jakarta or Surabaya, I bet it would just be seen as an ordinary three-star hotel.

The room was spacious, and you could add an extra bed for about Rp 275,000 with breakfast. Breakfast had a good selection and tasted nice, and there's a swimming pool too. Parking was ample, both outside at the front and in the basement. We chose the Forriz as a transit stop after arriving in Jogja around midnight, with an early departure the next morning. It turned out to be a pleasant surprise for my family and me. The hotel sits a little way in from the main road, so finding it may be slightly tricky at first, but it's not far. Service was good and check-in quick.

You can hear people talking inside their rooms from the corridor because the door seals aren't very good. The dining service was poor too, with a long wait to place an order and an even longer wait for the food. Most likely they order grab food, maybe 🤔.

It's a typical budget hotel at a reasonable price, but that doesn't excuse the cleanliness. Malioboro st isn't far, though you'll need a bike or taxi to get there.
