The caretaker was brilliant, so caring, attentive, helpful, and friendly. Honestly, he’s what made our stay perfect, and we’d come back for his hospitality. It’s good value, too. The mosque is nearby, so mornings can be a bit loud, though you do get a free wake-up call! The room was a decent size, the aircon worked great, the beds were comfy, and the showers were hot. The location was handy for walking to nearby places, while still being away from noise and stress. It wasn’t the cleanest place we’ve stayed, but we’ve definitely been somewhere worse. When arriving at night alone, the little alleyway might seem a bit sketchy, but don’t let that put you off.

The staff are friendly, but the rooms aren’t clean. Getting through the alley is a bit difficult when you’re carrying things.

The security guard was really friendly and helpful, and the room was spacious, clean, and smelled fresh. There are lots of nearby places, including Ayom Jogja restaurant, which is popular in Jogja right now, Taman Sari, Ngasem Market, and Alkid Jogja. Malioboro and Tugu Yogyakarta Station are close too. You can take a becak or motorbike taxi, and app-based motorcycle taxis are easy to find and affordable, with lots of discounts.

I was on vacation with my college friends, and staying here was a great choice for our time in Yogyakarta. The caretaker was very friendly, and we got a tasty, refreshing guava-flavored infused water as a welcome drink. You have to go down an alley to reach the place. The rooms are tidy and have good AC, with enough space for two, though they aren’t very spacious. During my last visit, I noticed two bathrooms outside and a separate kitchen. If I visit Yogyakarta again, Griya Bansu will definitely be my choice.
