Griya Jogja Hotel by RedDoorz

The service was nice, the place was fairly clean, and the price was quite cheap. I stayed one night in a family room with space for four: one king bed and two twin beds. There was hot water, Wi-Fi, and massage service, plus a church inside. Parking is available, though it can be a bit difficult with a long car.

The stairs between floors are steep, and breakfast was only so-so. It’s an old hotel that seems poorly maintained. I don’t mind an older room, but it should still be clean and tidy. The floor was dirty and the bathroom smelled. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

There’s no elevator, which made the high stairs hard for me to climb. The breakfast was so-so, with little choice, and the bread was very hard. Our room had one king bed and one single bed, plus an extra bed that made it cramped and hard to move around. There were only three of us, and I think the room was meant for three, though the extra bed may have been added to fit four. They should take it out. My travel agent in Jogjakarta booked the hotel for me, but I don’t think I’d stay again if I return to Jogjakarta.

The hotel had no elevator, so getting luggage upstairs would be a real challenge for older people or families with children. Some services listed in the hotel information weren’t available: there was no laundry service or restaurant for lunch and dinner, and no smoking room. Smokers ended up smoking in the public area, which made me uncomfortable because I had children with me. The rate went up for the holiday season, but the service didn’t. We understand prices can rise in high season, but expected more for what we paid. It felt overrated for a holiday stay.
