Homestay Alam Baru by ZUZU

We picked this homestay for its cleanliness and how close it is to the beach and On the Rock. The room and bathroom were both clean, and the man looking after the place was friendly. Since it was our first time here, he also suggested nearby attractions. My husband and I had come from Pacitan and reached the homestay at 10 a.m. Normally check-in is at 2 p.m., but he kindly let us in early. When I asked whether we needed to pay cash for the early check-in, he said no. We visited on a weekday, February 11, 2026, so it was quiet and there weren't any tourist attractions. It's a nice, clean place to stay.

There was no water heater, so my son was shivering and yelling through his shower, haha. They do provide coffee, though, and the owner can make food for you to order. The owner was really friendly and helpful, and the rooms were clean, smelled fresh, and felt comfortable. With all the trees and cool air, the place has a lovely atmosphere, and it's conveniently close to Kukup Beach. The price felt well worth it. We'd stay at Alam Baru Homestay again next time we're in Gunung Kidul.

The room was peaceful in the evening, though trucks and buses could still be heard passing in the middle of the night. The place is a little tucked away but still sits beside the road. We chose an AC and TV room with an en suite bathroom for 350,000. The bed had two single beds, pillows and a bolster, but only one blanket. There was a table and chairs, plus tea, coffee, sugar and three 600ml bottles of mineral water. The bathroom was clean, with amenities and clean towels, and had an area for drying towels. There was no water heater. It was cold at night, so we didn't really need the AC after all. We booked at 11:00 AM that day and paid a 100,000 deposit. We arrived at 4:00 PM on Saturday after playing at Mesra Beach. We met the guard on arrival, and paid the remaining balance by cash or bank transfer. Room types start at fan for 150,000, fan plus TV for 250,000, and AC plus TV for 350,000.

The beach access is close, the views are lovely, and there's a comfortable atmosphere with a clean, well-kept environment. Rooms are spacious, tidy and clean, and the bathrooms are clean too. They provide a full set of amenities, including coffee, tea, an electric kettle, soap, toothbrushes, shampoo and toothpaste. The staff were friendly, service was available 24 hours, and there are lounge chairs and tables. Prices are affordable and within budget. I was very satisfied, and my trip felt comfortable and high quality. Highly recommended.
