Liberta Malioboro North

The place was under renovation, and we had some AC trouble that meant switching rooms. The workers sorted things out quickly or helped us move. Great service and a great place.

Our first impression of Liberta North was very disappointing. We had booked a Triple Family Room through Agoda and were put on the 3rd floor, right beside the construction area. That side of the hotel is still being built, and the dust and debris immediately set off my father's and my dust allergies, making us sneeze and cough. The construction noise was unbearable, and dust and sand covered the floor. We came to relax, but couldn't get away from the noise and dirt. We complained to reception, but were told the hotel was fully booked and there were no spare rooms, even though the construction was clearly causing guests serious discomfort. We were asked to pay extra to move, with another charge for an extra bed, instead of being offered a room change or upgrade. It felt very unfair and unprofessional. We paid to move to Liberta South. There, our room had twin beds. We asked for them to be set up Hollywood style as a double for our parents, but the beds were just pushed together without being joined properly. They didn't change the sheet or duvet to fit the larger bed. The extra bed was comfortable enough, but had no proper divan. Once it was added, the room was cramped, with barely enough space to open a large suitcase. The bathroom smelled unpleasant too. We tried pouring hot water in several times, but the smell never fully went away. There were a few good points: the security staff were kind and helpful with transportation and parking, the receptionist did their best to handle our complaint, and housekeeping gave our room good morning service. A water dispenser was conveniently placed outside our room, which made refilling bottles easy and supported sustainability. The pool was clean and comfortable, and the location was very close to Stasiun Tugu Yogyakarta and Malioboro. While construction continues, probably for the next year or so, I'd strongly recommend booking at Liberta South instead of Liberta North unless you don't mind constant construction noise, dust, and dirt. Thanks for providing us with accommodation, but this was enough for us. We won't be back.

The room was comfortable and clean, and the staff were genuinely helpful. The location is also really convenient. Everything worked out great, and I’ll definitely return.
