Ndalem Mantrigawen

The ancient-looking rooms are still very comfortable, with soft, clean mattresses, and each one has a balcony overlooking the garden. They clean the rooms daily and leave mineral water inside. The shared bathroom is modern and clean. It’s a quiet spot near Keraton Yogyakarta, and check-in was very easy. The people were friendly, and there are self-service dispensers plus coffee and tea. A pleasant stay at an affordable price.

The garden is really beautiful, a little oasis where you can take a break from the city. The staff weren’t around and didn’t speak English, but they did help arrange a tour to Borobudur temple over WhatsApp. Sleep was difficult. Besides street noise, staff made noise at 5-6am, the TV was loud at night, and guests talked in the shared areas next to the bedrooms until 23pm-12am. I asked the staff to kindly move them to the other common areas farther from the rooms, but they didn’t. There’s no hot shower, just a fan. The rooms, shared bathroom, and outdoor areas were full of mold and damp. The online pictures don’t show how much worse the place is in reality. That was the main reason for my low rating.

The location is good, the parking area is big, and the service was good. It’s cheap, but be ready for it to look better in the pictures. The rooms could use renovation.

The room was lovely and comfortable, and both the TV and air conditioner worked well. It’s easy to get to since it’s near the main street. This was my first visit to Ndalem Mantrigawen, and I was truly amazed. Everything about the place felt remarkable, and it’s incredibly beautiful. Thank you, Ndalem Mantrigawen. I hope I can come back someday.
