Omah Pitoe Guest House

The owner was friendly and helpful, and offered to arrange transport to the main temples in the area. We stayed in a comfortable room at a beautiful homestay, about a 30-minute walk from central Jogja.

If you’re after luxury, you may want to look elsewhere. This place feels like a second home for a holiday, thanks to an owner who knows how to make guests feel at home. It’s an old, renovated building that doesn’t feel spooky at all. Breakfast is humble, served in a big dining room with large windows, fresh morning air, and plenty of light. The beds are nice and there’s AC. The hospitality really is great.

The owners are kind, flexible, and helpful, and the basic rooms are good value. Another bonus is their coffee house in the cozy front yard, where expert staff can advise you on the specialty coffees. They also serve delicious meals. A very nice homestay.

I always pick Omah Pitoe when I visit Jogja. The coffee right by the homestay’s front gate is really good, and for me it’s heaven. Food is all around and within walking distance, which matters a lot to me. Omah Pitoe is an old Javanese-style house inside the Keraton complex, or ‘Dalem Beteng’. You can walk to Keraton, and Malioboro street is reachable too, a little farther north. This is the city center, and if you want somewhere that feels like home while visiting Yogyakarta, it could be a wonderful choice.
