The owner was really friendly and explained the homestay well. They serve tea and coffee, too. It's a clean, affordable place to stay, and nice for anyone on a budget.

I hadn't booked a room; I just wandered into the gallery on a hot afternoon. Nobody was around except a man asleep in the drawing room, who I guessed might be Godod's son. I left him alone and went upstairs. The second floor was beautiful, and I loved it and took a few pictures. On my way out, I saw Godod’s smile in the picture and suddenly realized he was gone. Rest in peace, papa 🙏
This family-run artist guesthouse was such a lovely place to stay, and I'd come back when I visit Yogyakarta again. Breakfast is served each morning, with options you can request to suit your diet. The single room is reasonably priced, and there's a hot shower in the shared bathroom. Laundry is just two houses away, with plenty of cafes and restaurants on the same street. The family also holds a meditation gathering every Wednesday at 4 p.m., followed by a vegetarian dinner together.
There isn't much aimed at tourists in this area south of alun alun selatan. The homestay itself is a very basic hostel with a shared bathroom and shower, and art covering nearly every wall. The family is friendly.
The hosts are welcoming, and it's easy to get to tourist areas. This is a small gallery, artist's home, and guesthouse all in one, on a little road south of Keraton (Sultan Palace). It's set back from the road and can be hard to spot in traffic, but there's a small sign and people in the neighborhood know it. There's room for a couple of cars and some motorbikes. The first floor combines the living room and gallery, where the artist's family lives. Guest rooms are upstairs: three in total, including one single room, with a small shared bathroom. The rooms are quite small, with fans and open ventilation. You can hear people talking outside and downstairs, as well as dogs barking outside. Mosquitoes can also get in through the open vents. The reception area is open 24 hours, so guests may arrive even after midnight. The artist's personal visitors also sometimes talk very loudly through the night.
