Venezia Homestay and Garden

The owner, staff, and local people were all considerate and welcoming, and breakfast was simple but tasty. My room was clean and had an exotic feel. It’s not a place to expect five-star facilities, but it gave me the authentic local experience I wanted. I couldn’t have asked for a better stay in Yogyakarta, and I’ll come back when I’m here again.

The owner is lovely and puts together a great breakfast, and the rooms are comfortable and really nice. There’s a mosque speaker right beside the apartment, with the Muezzin starting as early as 4 AM, so definitely pack earplugs.

We went as a couple in April 2025 and left after just one night, even though we’d booked four. The staff did acknowledge the problems and let us check out early, which is why I’m still giving it three stars. Our room was below par: the door was broken, the AC didn’t work properly, and it wasn’t very clean. The pool looked a bit dirty, so we didn’t use it. Nights were extremely noisy, with a rooster and the mosque next door. There’s potential here, but it needs serious attention.

The staff were kind and helpful, sharing plenty of information and assistance when we needed it. We stayed in a simple, good room with a comfortable bed and hot shower, and the swimming pool was right outside. It’s in a local neighborhood, about 3 kilometres from Marioborostreet, and a street with some western restaurants is within walking distance. There’s a mosque next door, as you’d expect in Java. At first we noticed it, but got used to it. We had a wonderful stay and would return when we’re back in Yogya.
