Yogyakarta Backpacker - Casa Raffles

The only real plus was being near central Yogyakarta sights. It was cheap, but there are better places at the same price, and I’d pay a little more to stay somewhere else. This place felt like a health hazard. Our double room’s sheets were filthy when we arrived. We’d booked three nights, and although they did agree to change them, I’ve never seen a bed that disgusting. The whole place was dirty. We also saw rats in the kitchen and a bat flying around the common area. Breakfast was one cold piece of fried chicken with rice and a sachet of sambal. I’m surprised we didn’t get sick from it, so we found breakfast elsewhere for the rest of our stay. There’s no sign outside, which made the place impossible to find without asking around. The name makes it sound like a backpacker spot, but it didn’t have that vibe. The receptionist wasn’t friendly, didn’t speak English, and was rarely around.
