The room ran far too warm, so we left the window open all day to cool it. Otherwise, it was a good stay for our ballroom event. We had asked for one double bed and were pleasantly surprised to find an extra one, handy for watching TV separately from sleeping. The room was basic, with streaming on the TV, a bathroom with a bath and shower, and tea and coffee supplies, though there was no fridge or drinking water. We didn't feel comfortable using the sink water. There was an iron and board, just three coat hangers, and no safe. The hotel looks a bit like a motel when you first drive in, but the friendly, helpful staff and facilities soon make that impression fade. Inside, there's old Irish art, matching furniture and a wood-burning stove. The bar and restaurant seem to have something for most people. Staff were fantastic, and I'd happily recommend the place.

It was lovely to see a family-run hotel with a homely feel, a relaxing atmosphere and a warm open fire. We got together as siblings and stayed overnight, and the rooms were very comfortable. The food was excellent, and the staff did everything they could to make us welcome. Our gluten-free requests were catered for, and we were able to sit in the bar playing cards until late.

The food and atmosphere at our Abbeyleix manor wedding were brilliant, and the feedback from friends and family said it all. The team was well organised and took a lot of the stress out of planning. They're excellent, and I highly recommend Abbeyleix manor to anyone arranging a wedding. A thoroughly deserved five stars.

The kids' menu prices and portions really don't match, so I wouldn't choose this restaurant with young children. A children's meal was over 10 euros, and one scoop of ice cream with jelly cost over 6 euros. Other places are much cheaper, and there are more reasonably priced options around. That said, this is a lovely local hotel, the staff were friendly, and the food we had was pretty good. I'd still recommend the restaurant, just bear the prices in mind.

Breakfast and dinner were delicious and plentiful, the staff were genuinely helpful and friendly, and the beds were very comfortable. There's plenty of free parking too. But you can hear everything from the neighboring rooms, and the reception area has the look of an old folks' home. The bedrooms are nicely decorated, though the bathrooms feel dated. Since the shower is over the bath, grab bars are needed, and the bath mat is useless. I couldn't find the hairdryer, and the drawers were stuck so I couldn't check inside. The room listing mentions cable and satellite channels, but they aren't there. Reception confirmed the hotel doesn't have them. There's no lift. It could be a beautiful hotel.
