Turn-down service was a lovely touch: they replaced our snacks, left ice and water, and put slippers by the bed. The mattress was very comfortable, though the pillows weren’t firm enough and gave me a crick in my neck. Our room was clean and modern with an old-time feel, but I think more colorful fabrics would have made it warmer. The iPad for controlling lights, temperature, and blinds didn’t operate the curtains in our room. On arrival, valet took our bags up, and we were pleased to get an upgrade. The complimentary minibar and little cake were nice extras too. We ate dinner at the Carriage House, and it was delicious. They drove us over from the main building. The cocktails there were better than at the Tack Room, which had a smaller selection. Breakfast was fine, though the room was very busy and the continental section felt small with limited choice. We had the full Irish, with little juice shots and a choice of coffee. The pudding was dry, and I didn’t care for the hash browns. I’d recommend Adare Manor, but we’ve stayed at better hotels in Ireland with more to offer, like forest walks, animals, and hot tubs. The staff were friendly, yet there seemed to be too many people at every corner, so we had little privacy or space to look around at our own pace. When we left, we waited 15 minutes for our car.

Dinner in The Oak Room was one of the best meals we’ve ever had. Every course was delicious and beautifully presented. The spa and thermal suite were another highlight, peaceful and luxurious enough to feel like a real escape. The staff were friendly and helpful without making a fuss, and our room was beautiful, with gorgeous views and everything we needed. We started the visit with a relaxed but special lunch in the library. The grounds were stunning and so well kept that we could have wandered for hours. We’d thought of this as a once-in-a-lifetime trip, but we’re already talking about coming back.

The food was the biggest let-down. Afternoon tea looked lovely but had no taste, the worst we’ve had in Ireland. Breakfast choices were very limited, and the hot dishes weren’t well done. For the price, the stay was disappointing, and I don’t understand how the hotel was once voted one of Europe’s best. It’s presented as family-friendly, but that wasn’t how it felt for us. We’d told the hotel about a special family occasion, yet the atmosphere was awkward, with staff around constantly instead of a real sense of hospitality. The entrance and reception are beautiful, and our room was spacious, prepared well for a family, and had a few nice touches. Still, the interior felt bland and characterless. The grounds were fine, probably more suited to golfers. The open water terrace didn’t feel safe for small children because there weren’t safety features. The location was acceptable, but the food, atmosphere, and family experience didn’t justify the price. The luxury felt superficial.

A special thanks to Beatriz at the front desk, and to Saurabh, who was super helpful and accommodating in the restaurant. Max / Mark and the padel club team were great too. Every member of the hotel staff was fantastic and helpful. Many thanks!

The Gun dog trials were a great part of our stay. Willie and Ivan were extremely skilled and gave us a fantastic look at the sporting competition. Thank you both, and your three lovely black labs. We also tried Clay Pigeon shooting, with clear training and an amazing range of shooting opportunities. The Padel society facilities were only a two-minute walk from the main entrance and were such fun. We came to Adare manor for our fifth anniversary, and it exceeded all our expectations. The staff’s kindness really stood out. Anthony at the main entrance door greeted us each time with such a warm, fun, enthusiastic personality, and Áiné, one of the hotel managers, went above and beyond to make sure our memories of Adare would last forever. Irish five-star luxury at another level.
