Woodhill House

It's a very cool place, with great views straight from the room and lovely nature to take in on a walk. The staff are helpful and deserve the best, and breakfast was great. They burn turf by the bar to keep guests warm. The building is really old, so bear that in mind; it's the only heat source for the main lobby and bar. The room was comfortable and had everything you'd want as a traveler. Getting here on foot with luggage is the downside. It's about a 10-minute walk uphill from the bus stop, and the route gets very dark at night, which feels a bit spooky. The area is very safe, though, so there's nothing to worry about.

John, the owner, was very helpful and shared some history dating back to the 1650s. We stayed in a garden-overlook room with a balcony in this nice country home, and the service was very good. The towels were fluffy, but the pillows were flat and need replacing. The water pressure and temperature control are a serious problem, and they really need to upgrade to an on-demand system.

A brilliant breakfast, lovely rooms and wonderful hosts, all in a stunning location. Well worth stopping here on your travels. I highly recommend it.

We stayed in room 2, which had an incredible countryside view. The decor is really cool, and John, who runs the place, is super nice. It felt like stepping into the past, and both dinner at the restaurant and breakfast were great. We had a really lovely stay. I'd recommend it if you're after a unique experience.
