The prices are very fair, and the portions were a good size. My half roast beef dinner, dessert and coffee came to €20.50. I’ve been to Guillanes Hotel, Ballinasloe a few times for the Full Irish breakfast, which is very good, and this visit was just as pleasing. The roast beef was scrumptious, and the strawberry cheesecake and Americano were tasty too. There’s plenty of seating and a relaxed feel. I can see why people, especially women, come in on their own. The staff are so friendly and helpful, it makes the place feel comfortable. A great spot for food, would recommend it to anyone.

The Christmas decorations were pretty, though the decor itself is very dated. We each ordered a half portion dinner, roast beef for me, lamb for my partner, and pasta for our daughter. Our plates got mixed up, and I only realised when mine was nearly gone. It was a small portion for €12, with just a quarter roast potato on each plate and a little sprinkle of stuffing. There was also a long black hair on my plate. Nice.

The room was cosy, warm, clean and had plenty of sockets for chargers. The bathroom looked fairly modern and the shower was powerful, though a few spots showed wear. I liked the cosy restaurant and breakfast, especially the sunrise breakfast, which was delicious. The hotel is in town, with shops and pubs nearby. The WiFi was pretty much useless, cutting out or failing to work. Dinner was worse: I found pieces of cling film in the vegetable soup, complained, and wasn't charged for it. Then the penne was tasteless and very salty. Not a great experience overall.

The breakfast that came with the room was the best, with perfectly cooked eggs, great bacon and really flavourful tomatoes. The woman serving breakfast was friendly and informative too. My room was spotless and comfortable, and there’s a huge parking area out back, just circle around the building. I travelled from Scotland for a funeral and had emailed ahead because I didn’t yet know the date. A lovely woman replied promptly, then checked me in and was a delight. Thank you.

Stopped in for dinner and then breakfast while on a dance trip recently. Both meals were excellent, good value and served well. Always a great place for decent food.
