We had a lovely lunch outside in the sunshine on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. The fresh air and relaxed atmosphere made it a great place to eat, and the food was delicious with excellent service. Eamonn served us and was welcoming, friendly and helpful with suggestions from the menu. He’s a credit to the team. We’ll definitely be back.

We drove over an hour to eat here with our two daughters, and I left really disappointed. The fish was listed as fillet, but it had so many bones I nearly choked. Thank goodness I hadn't given any to my two-year-old. The tartar sauce wasn't brought with it, and when we asked for some, what came wasn't tartar sauce. The fish was tasteless, so I didn't eat it at all. Our child's burger was still raw and red in the middle, and my husband's steak sandwich was like eating a rock. For what we paid, none of the food was right and it wasn't worth it.

Sheila at the front desk played along with our Mother's Day joke, saying my fictional daughter had booked ahead and saved us one of the best seats. She put us at a lovely table by the piano, and we had a lovely meal with gorgeous dessert. When we left, she said my daughter had a surprise for me and gave me a lovely Mother's Day cupcake. It made us laugh, and it was so welcoming to find staff with a sense of humour. Eamon was lovely as our server too. The cupcake was delicious, and I'd definitely recommend this lodge. For context, my friend is about 20 years younger than me, and we'd wondered why it was so busy before remembering it was Mother's Day. I joked that my “own daughter” had forgotten the day and her fictional brother was my favourite.

The hotel is beside a marina, so I imagine it would be a great place to pull up off the Shannon in summer. We had lunch here and were very impressed: the food was really good, there was a great choice, and the prices were good. The staff were efficient and friendly. I’d certainly recommend it.

Every staff member we met was friendly and super efficient. The evening à la carte meal and breakfast were first class. Our room was spotlessly clean and well appointed, and the bed was very comfortable. Excellent in every way.
