Great Northern Hotel

The location was nice and the staff were pleasant, but the room was tiny, like a shoebox, for €220 a night. My pregnant partner and I were made to feel intimidated in the bar by a drunk man from Northern Ireland. Two hours later, we saw the same man in the main hallway, where he punched a door right in front of us. That sort of thing gives the hotel a terrible look, especially when he's frightening people, including a pregnant woman. Disgusting carry-on. We won't be back.

The location and surroundings were beautiful, and our room was clean, but I wouldn't return. We stayed at The Great Northern Hotel in Bundoran on Tuesday 19th August, and the rooms didn't feel worth the price. My son's single bed had a broken base that kept making noise, the double bed sagged in the middle, and the glass shower and toiletry holder was coming away from the bathroom wall and felt unsafe. I reported everything at reception. The staff member made a note, but nothing was fixed while we were there. I told the receptionist my children are autistic and asked where might be quieter to eat. The only advice was, “I’m not sure, you’ll have to check.” We picked the restaurant, then found out we'd have to wait more than 25 minutes for food. Breakfast was stressful too, with long queues, uncleared tables and staff clearly overwhelmed. When I asked for coffee, one staff member hurried past and told me to “ask someone else.” I felt for the staff, who were run off their feet, but it wasn't a relaxing meal. The food and service fell well below expectations.

Our wedding day at the Great Northern Hotel was the best. Shane, Karen and their team took care of everything and made us feel so special. When we arrived for the reception, they made it clear we could just enjoy ourselves because they had everything under control. They brought our vision to life, and the service was impeccable. The food was out of this world, especially the Beef, which our guests are still talking about. I couldn't recommend them more.

The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable, and the food was delicious. It's a stunning place to stay, and the staff were so friendly, especially Karen the manager.
