Dalton Inn Hotel

I checked into dalton inn hotel on Tuesday 3rd March, and it wasn't a good experience. The first room was very cold, and the bathroom was so cramped I had to squeeze past the toilet to reach the shower. There was a broken tile on the step into the bathroom. I asked reception for another room, but that one was extremely cold too and had no towels. Never again. 😕

That full fry is gorgeous and really good value at €13.50. I came in for breakfast, which opens at 8am or earlier, though it's a pity they don't advertise it. They should put a breakfast sign outside, and update Google to show the restaurant open at 8am or before. We're in a digital age, and if Google Maps says a place is closed, people won't come.

The staff are polite and friendly, there's plenty of comfortable seating, and you can choose a dessert. Carvery seems to finish around 3 or 3.30 p.m., with a menu available afterward. The servings are generous, and the food comes quickly on a hot plate, so dinner stays hot. Pick beef, fish, chicken, or turkey and ham, with gravy or pepper cream sauce. You can have water, orange squash, or a drink from the bar. You won't leave hungry or disappointed, and it's good value. Claremorris is a lovely town with plenty of shops, including jewellery, clothes, hardware, and supermarkets.

We had a very tasty, reasonably priced dinner with the kids from the à la carte menu. There were good options, including all the Irish favourites. The place is quite big inside, with comfortable, spacious seating that works well if you want a bit more room and privacy. Staff were welcoming and good. We didn't stay overnight, but I'd recommend it for food.
