I was delighted to find Foyles Hotel just as wonderful as I remembered when I returned for one night in April 2026, after about 15 years away. It has always been my favourite place to stay in Clifden. The rooms are spacious, warm and comfortable, and the restaurant food is delicious. There’s a particular old Victorian hotel feel to the place, housed in a lovely Victorian building and run by the same family for over 100 years. The welcome and service are second to none. It’s still my favourite.

The bar and restaurant were both excellent, and the hotel’s old school charm made it unlike anywhere else we’ve stayed. Even check in was done on paper. It’s in a gorgeous location, and we hope to visit again.

We had a great time in Mullarkeys Bar after dinner, with excellent live music on both nights. Foyles is right in the middle of town, and the staff were warm and friendly throughout. The food was amazing, and there was a very nice wine list. The rooms have an old fashioned feel, but they’re spacious, comfortable, spotless and full of character.

It was my first visit to Clifden, and Foyles Hotel made for a fabulous stay. The location is right in the centre, with lots of shops and restaurants outside the door, and it’s a short walk to the beach and Clifden castle. The bus from Galway drops you about a 5 minute walk away. The hotel was very clean, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was included, and both the food and coffee were delicious. I’d suggest staying here if you’re visiting Clifden.

I came back after 4yrs and was so glad I did. The staff are lovely, the rooms clean and comfortable, and breakfast was lovely too. I can’t fault the hotel, and I’ve already booked 3 nights for next yr. Highly recommended.
