Enniscoe House

We found Enniscoe House tucked away in a peaceful, beautiful setting. The staff were warm and attentive, and the historic feel of the house made for a memorable, relaxing escape. A hidden gem, and highly recommended.

The estate has lovely trails through the grounds and beside the lake, and the North Mayo Heritage Center and working organic farm are also on the property. I visited friends who have been enjoying this Georgian estate for well over a decade. It seems like an ideal place for a personal break or sabbatical.

We only booked a night in July’23, on short notice, and felt lucky to find a room. The food, room and setting were all wonderful, with a lovely path leading into the place and horses around. If you're in Mayo, it's somewhere to plan ahead for and stay at least 2-3 days. Definitely worth experiencing.

The welcome was what really stayed with me. DJ and his mother Susan made me feel like a distant member of the family, saying, "our home is you're home." I've never experienced hospitality quite like that. The grounds are huge, from the lake shore and forests to the ornamental and organic gardens, with plenty to discover. Inside, the house is beautifully kept, and its family and property history is proudly on display. The staff knew the rooms and the stories behind everything from paintings to tables. Walking through felt like stepping back into the 1800's. I was blown away by the woods and grounds around the main house. For an escape from the outside world and a special stay in Ireland, I highly recommend Enniscoe.
