The location was a real plus, only about a five-minute walk into town, with easy parking and pleasant, quiet neighbors. We arrived to a spotless apartment that smelled fresh, and communication with the manager was good. Still, it felt like guest feedback wasn't being acted on, as if there were more houses to look after than they could manage. There were basic things missing in the kitchen: no spatula, only one tiny knife for cooking for eight, and no salt or pepper. There were no cleaning supplies or vacuum either, despite carpeted rooms, so for a short stay you may have to buy things you'll leave behind and that are probably removed later. The living room windows and doors were completely covered, with no view outside. There were no pegs, and sound carried badly enough that I could hear a neighbor snoring at 3 a.m. The mattresses weren't comfortable. Upstairs, the rooms felt damp and had obvious humidity issues, the windows were hard to open or shut, and the walls were bumpy.

The cottages were up to the standard I'd expect for a West of Ireland holiday home, in an excellent location, and the local property manager was fair. Even so, the whole experience left a bad taste. I booked four houses through Trident holiday homes for a work leaving party of 24 people. I was first told the deposit was €200 per house, then agreed when they said it would be €500 per group booking. When I rang the Thursday before our trip to give my card details, I was told it was actually €500 for each house, or €2,000 total, on top of the €2,400 I'd already paid for accommodation. I showed them the message saying €500 per group and the invoice listing €200 per house. They said their website allowed them to change the amount as they chose, and that cancelling would mean losing my payment. The €2,000 took 15 working days to come back, nearly a working month. They blamed my bank, but I was told the refund hadn't been submitted until 48 hours before it reached me. There was also a €40 electricity charge per house. I checked the meters around 3:15-3:20, though check-in was 3:00, and they were at €15-€18. When we left they showed €10-€12, so I think we used only €5 per house. If the balance had fallen below the charge, I'd have had to top it up myself or risk not getting my deposit back.

Deirdre, the property manager, went out of her way to help us. My son had hidden his passport, and we only realized it was missing when we were already hours away. She found it and arranged to get it delivered before we had to leave Ireland. We owe her and the team a lot for that, and they've won a customer for life. Our stay at the Dingle Harbour Cottages was great too. The cottages were clean and well equipped, and the location was perfect. The customer service was spectacular.

Really clean apartments, and a great spot for a weekend away.

You can walk to Dingle Town in a short time, and the cottages are well equipped. The kitchen has what you need, and the beds were comfortable and roomy. The upstairs shower was lovely and strong, though the downstairs one wasn't great. Bring your own hand, bath and tea towels. We were five people staying for five days, using the washing machine and dishwasher and taking showers, and still didn't use up the €40 electricity credit. WiFi was good, and the TV had YouTube and Netflix. We'd book again.
