I stayed here last night with my sister, under her booking. The place was filthy, and it stank. I have photos. There were three bins in the kitchen and none had lids, which added to the smell. Sound carries through the building, and we could hear guests until midnight, then again at 1:30 and 3:30. It was overpriced for what else is available nearby. The night before, we’d stayed at a hotel close by for only €30 more per night, and it was very clean with no musty smell.

Ondriej and Brit were honestly so helpful. We had a class weekend there for a stag in a class hostel. Everything was really clean, and there were indoor and outdoor eating areas.

Being right in the centre of Dingle is a good location, but the hostel itself is run-down and costs an extortionate amount. We’ve paid less for much better hotels and B&Bs in nicer places. Our rate was meant to include a self-service breakfast from 8am, but there was nothing in the kitchen when we went down, so we had to use our own food. The manager eventually appeared and put out a very basic breakfast, without apologising. The toilet wouldn’t flush properly, and we could hear every sound from the man next door, including talking and snoring. He came in drunk at 2:30am with his mate, talking loudly and banging the door, and woke everyone up.

The host, Britt, was terrific. She made up for a lot with her advice and friendly conversation, and they had a cozy fire going when I arrived. The place is old and has cozy, well-worn spots, but the plumbing really needs remodeling. It’s within walking distance of the bus stop, in my opinion. Laundry costs 15 Euro, but the detergent has such a strong perfume scent that it’s agonizing. I couldn’t find compressed bricks or wood to keep the fire going, and it didn’t last long. The bunks need privacy curtains ASAP.

A grand little hostel in a brilliant location, and I’d stay again. I paid €50 a night for a mixed dorm. The beds were grand and I slept fine, though I suppose it depends on whether the people sharing the room are respectful. Showers were cold when I got in after getting soaked on a boat, but the woman before me said hers had been lovely and hot, so maybe it’s best to go early. A bit of heat would’ve been nice. Parking is dodgy, though I got lucky with a spot in the lane. Free towels were in the press, and there was a hairdryer and free toiletries in a box, which was lovely. I hadn’t heard about free breakfast, and I thought I heard the host tell someone there wasn’t any, though I may have got that wrong from the comments. Hares Corner does a lovely breakfast anyway. The place was clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful.
