We felt so looked after, and I’m incredibly grateful for that. Before we arrived, a leak had affected our room. Coming from rainy western Canada, we understood, and Robert had already arranged another place for us and kept us very well informed. My mom stayed here in 2019 and loved it too. She remembered how friendly the staff were and how comfortable her room felt. I’m already hoping to visit again someday.

There’s a guitar by the fireplace, and we ended up singing with an Irish singer and a man from Spain. That really captures the lovely atmosphere here. The owner is cheerful, funny, and clearly knows a lot about the hostel and Doolin. The place has a story of its own, too. Our room was clean, the beds were very comfortable, and breakfast was easy to sort out with ingredients provided by the owner. A great little place to stay, and the best in town for us.

The owners are generous and kind, and the hostel always seems to bring together interesting travelers from all over. I’ve been staying here for years, like many others who keep coming back, which says a lot. Camping beside the burbling river is a treat, with soft grass underfoot and Irish traditional music in the distance. Inside, it’s warm and welcoming, and there’s a great kitchen.

We had plenty of room, a clean private bathroom, and a nice shared space with a natural log fire. The skylight had a blind, which was useful, but the torrential rain drumming on it made sleeping really difficult. The building looked lovely from outside, and the coastal location was great. The staff were passable, though not especially friendly. We felt safe because every room locks. Parking filled up a bit at times, but we found a space. We’d definitely come back.

Everything you might need is included, and the staff politely explain the essentials before leaving you to do your own thing. The Cliffs of Moher are only about a 20 minute walk away. Absolutely wonderful.
