Cathedral Court

The bed was comfortable and the shower was good, though I found the room hot. There's a bar and restaurant at the hotel, with plenty of pubs, cafes, and restaurants nearby. St. Stephens Green shopping area is about a 10 minute walk, and Heuston Train station isn't too far away.

The manager on duty was kind and congenial. We even saw him at a pub the next day, and he remembered us. The hotel's location was convenient for us, about a 20 minute walk from the town center, and I'd stay again if that other front desk person were gone. When we got to our room, the window looked out on a very dirty rooftop. I asked the desk worker who had checked us in if we could switch. She said they were fully booked and usually didn't change rooms, but promised to send someone to see the problem. Nobody came. I went back to the front desk when the manager was there, and, behold, he found an available room and moved us. It seemed the other worker just didn't want the bother of arranging a new room. I don't know her name, but we checked in on 5/11 at about 4 or 5 pm, so you should be able to see who was on duty. She seemed unhappy in her job and probably shouldn't be on the front desk.

The staff were friendly and helpful throughout, and the location made it easy to walk to Temple Bar and other attractions. Local buses were very good too. The room was a good size, well equipped, clean, and nicely presented, with a very comfortable bed, though comfort is subjective. The bathroom decor was a little tired. The shower tray was discoloured and rough, as if someone had cleaned it with something corrosive, and the sink had a couple of chips inside, though it was still usable. I can recommend staying there...!!!

Temple Bar was about a 10-15min walk away, and the Guinness Storehouse was also walkable, so the location suited our visit perfectly. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and our rooms were in good condition, clean and fresh apart from a few scuffs and marks. Breakfast was great, with lots of choice, and staff kept on top of things when supplies ran low. We'd definitely come back when we're in Dublin again.
