Staycity Aparthotels, Dublin, Christchurch

We rented two rooms for a week and walked all over Dublin from this great location. It took some getting used to the apartment's size and layout, but we enjoyed our stay. The building doesn't have amenities, though the lobby staff were pleasant and helpful. The roof deck gives you a look at the sights and lights. I loved the Nespresso machine, and having a kitchen was great. The washer-dryer is a combo unit, so loads need to be small and take a long time. One mattress was bad, but otherwise it was good value. They missed our housekeeping date, which was frustrating, and we had to buy supplies ourselves. That's why I gave service a low score.

Our 2 bedroom unit was priced and located as expected, but I wouldn't recommend this facility. The bedrooms were so cramped you couldn't walk around the beds, and some kitchen cabinets were out of reach. The worst part was the bathroom: the shower design left the floor soaked, so we were constantly mopping up puddles. I asked for extra bath-mat towels to put outside the shower, but the desk attendant first said they couldn't provide them because they don't do linen changes, which wasn't what I was asking for. Then she said housekeeping wasn't in until morning. I pressed, and she eventually did some digging and found towels. Five people couldn't sit together comfortably in the common room, which only had one chair and a two-person love-seat. This was an uncomfortable stay and the worst two-bedroom suite hotel on our list.

The room wasn't like the photos, and a large pillar in the middle made it hard for more than one person to move around, especially with the window open. The pillar also left the TV view awkward, so the only place to watch was sideways on the bed. The in-room conveniences were handy, but I couldn't use them because no washing or cleaning supplies were available. The dining table couldn't really be used either, tucked into a window alcove with no room to pull out the chairs. The bathroom didn't seem clean to me, with dirty walls and sink. The shower pressure was very low, as was the water from the sink taps. The king-sized bed was actually two mattresses pushed together, one rock hard and one very soft foam. On checkout morning, I saw the QR code for ordering from the small cafe, but went downstairs instead. Glad I did, since the coffee machine was broken and couldn't make hot drinks. The location is amazing for walking around dublin city and olympia, and the price was okay, though there's a reason for it. Staff were okay too. The woman who checked us in wasn't very pleasant at first, but was friendly later that night. I wouldn't stay again, and would pay more for a better, more reputable place.

Raphael(hafAel) was terrific, professional, and kind. The location was great, with a 10-15 minute walk to everything. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, and having a clothes washer was a plus. Everything was good, and I'd stay again.
