Citi Downtown Residence

It was hard to find the hostel since there's no sign. It's opposite the Capel building, right beside a dry cleaning shop. The price is relatively cheap, and security is strong, with CCTV cameras and a password-controlled gate. Staff were reasonably nice and the rooms were clean, but the bathroom is small. There's only one skylight and no windows, so the room gets hot at night. The bed was very uncomfortable, the shower controls confusing, and there was little to no outside storage. Breakfast had no variety. I wouldn't recommend it.

The owners were nice and helpful, and a standard continental breakfast was included. We had a clean, comfortable double room with a private bathroom, though it was a little small. The place is very well located near the city centre, just a block from the Liffey river and Jervis stop.

For a basic room, it felt a bit overpriced. The springs came through the mattress, and one of the wall sockets was loose. It also wasn’t wheelchair accessible. If you just need a place in the city centre and aren’t fussy, it’s okay.

The location was great, but the stay was a mess. The room was dirty, there was no soap or towels, and although check-in was at 3, I didn’t get into my room until 6. The pillows felt like paper and the bed moved by itself during the night. When I asked about the basic services, the man at reception said he’d worked in big hotels and acted as if I should already know. What was that about?
