Finding the place can be tricky. The red arrow in my photo shows where it is, and there’s nobody from the staff on site. The man in bed 16 kept smoking and making noise even after being asked to stop smoking and use headphones. Management replied, “Sorry about it, we talked with him yesterday. No can smoke in hotel.” That was their response. I wish they’d treated it more seriously and taken real action.

I only stayed one night in a sleeping pod in a mixed dorm. They emailed me the codes for the door and room. I didn't see any staff: I left my bag in the pod earlier in the day, went out, came back around 1 a.m. to sleep, and left at 7 a.m. It’s a cheap place, and you get what you’d expect. If you’re after a restful weekend away, don’t book it. If you’ve been out in Dublin and just need somewhere inexpensive to sleep, it does the job.

The room was a little better than the entrance and stairs, but the whole place feels run-down despite some work going on. There wasn’t much hot water, the bathroom had mould, and there were no bedside tables, lamps, or teaspoons for making a drink. I could hear the bathroom fan in the room above, along with lots of corridor noise from other guests. I wouldn’t stay again.

We chose it because it was the most affordable “hotel” option in Dublin, and for the price we got what we expected, so I’d give it three stars. The tourist areas are a bit of a trek away, though we didn’t mind the walk. There aren’t clear signs identifying it as a hotel, so finding your room takes some effort. Parking took a bit of figuring out. The owner of the pawn shop next door helped us. You can park out front during the day, but at night and on weekends you have to move the car to paid parking. Everything in the room creaked: beds, floors, doors, TV, even the remote. The water was either hot with barely a trickle or cold with some pressure, with no in-between. If you need an affordable base for exploring Dublin, this could work. If you want the hotel itself to be part of the tourist experience, or expect to spend much time in the room, look elsewhere.

I picked this place because it was the cheapest option in Dublin for my dates. It’s on the main street and was easy to find. Parking on the main road seemed fine off-peak, and being able to see my car from the room was a plus. The apartment is in a very old building, and the creaky stairs give it a nostalgic feel. The room had the basics. It’s cheap and good value, with a nice location, so I’d recommend it to someone after a no-frills stay. As a tourist, though, I wouldn’t book it.
