Dublin Citi Hotel

The attached bar did a very good breakfast, and the staff at this little hotel were brilliant, welcoming, and accommodating. You're right downtown, about a five-minute walk from Temple Bar and Trinity college. The street gets noisy at night. It didn't bother us, but it could bother other people. I'd stay again.

The staff were amazingly helpful, and the rooms were clean. It's close to lots of places, very centrally located. The rooms are small but workable. I had trouble getting through the shower door because I'm a bit on the heavy side. If I'd dropped something in there, I probably couldn't have picked it up without getting out of the shower.

For Dublin, the price is pretty good, though I still wouldn't make this my first choice for a cheap room. I also don't understand the €100 card deposit at check-in. The location is great, but noise comes through too much even with earplugs, mainly because the windows are old. The room looked nice enough, the bed was pretty good, and the shower wasn't great but did the job. Service was OK.

We barely noticed much noise, maybe because we were there during the week and had a higher-floor room. Earplugs are provided, too. We loved how quickly we could walk to restaurants and shops, with several tourist sights just 5-10 minutes away. Booking through the hotel's website included breakfast, and the staff were always friendly and accommodating. The old beds weren't very comfortable, though they were fine for a night or two. Internet in our third-floor room kept dropping out. We reported it and restarting the router helped for a little while. If you're on a lower budget and can live with a few drawbacks, this is a good option.
