The Howth views and greenery were stunning, and our host was lovely, friendly, and very accommodating. The rooms, though, were a real letdown. They smelled strongly of must, and there was visible mold, rusty fixtures, and cobwebs all over. The place is called rustic, but it came across as neglected and poorly cared for. That kind of atmosphere can be charming, but the cleanliness and maintenance still need attention. We stayed two nights, and while the scenery and host were highlights, the property's condition took a lot away from the experience. It needs a proper deep clean and renovation.

The house and rooms are old, but everything was very clean. Check-in was easy and the location was good. We didn't find the hostess at breakfast. We were woken early by the guest in the next room taking a shower, since the electric shower was noisy 🙈

I never got to stay there. Cancelling turned into a real hassle, and it seemed like they didn't understand how their online booking system worked. I emailed to cancel and heard nothing, then followed up and was told they'd get back to me. They charged the full amount even though cancellation was supposed to be free, and my emails kept going unanswered. After weeks, threatening legal action was the only way I got a reply. I eventually received a refund.

$1000 cash, in notes from 4 different currencies, went missing from my room. I believe the owner's niece, who runs a coffee van outside, stole it. I only discovered the loss after we reached Singapore. Since I had stored the notes in different places in our bags while travelling, it was definitely taken there.
